Week 8 Top Performers
A look back at top performances from Week 8 of the high school football season from the Green Bay area.
TEAM OF THE WEEK: Pulaski
The Red Raiders improved to 8-0 with a 34-6 win over Ashwaubenon. The defense made three interceptions, including two by senior Brock Egnarski, while junior Ben Redlin rushed for 190 yards and two touchdowns in the Fox River Classic Conference matchup.
PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
Sam Hafner, De Pere: The senior made 11 tackles, including five solo stops and three sacks in a road win against Manitowoc.
Jerod Jandt, Peshtigo: The senior had a monster game in a win over Southern Door, rushing for 322 yards on 41 carries and scoring six touchdowns.
Mitchell Manns, Oconto Falls: The senior recorded an area-high 21 tackles, including 10 solo stops, to lead the Panthers to a 20-12 win over Marinette.
Taejon Richard, G.B. Southwest: The senior rushed for 149 yards and a touchdown in addition to making eight tackles in a win at Notre Dame Academy.
Peyton VanDeHei, Seymour: The junior made 12 tackles and an interception in addition to throwing a touchdown in a tough 10-7 loss for the Thunder.
OFFENSIVE LINE OF THE WEEK: Denmark
The Vikings averaged 7.4 yards per carry in rushing for 206 yards and four touchdowns in a win over Clintonville to become playoff eligible. Denmark has the NEC’s leading passer (Reece Piontek), receiver (Seth Alexander) and second-leading rusher (Gabe Wertel) thanks to the big guys up front.
DEFENSE OF THE WEEK: West De Pere
The Phantoms held Wrightstown to 78 yards of offense and only 18 rushing yards in a nonconference victory. Cody Cavil made seven tackles, including a tackle for loss in the win.
