Week 2 Top Performers
A look back at top performances from Week 2 of the high school football season from the Green Bay area.
Players of the week
Austin Beaumier, West De Pere: The senior had a busy night in a 42-14 victory against New London, rushing for 223 yards and three touchdowns on 38 carries.
Nic Dahlke, G.B. Preble: The 6-foot-1, 279-pounder made 3 ½ tackles, include two for losses in the Hornets’ 31-26 victory over Manitowoc. Dahlke’s constant presence in the Ships’ backfield help result in five interceptions in the second half.
Andrew Gruesen, G.B. Notre Dame: The senior kicked a 42-yard field to give the Tritons a 17-14 victory over Ashwaubenon. Gruesen is also a member of Notre Dame’s offensive line.
Josh Komis, G.B. Southwest: The senior rushed for 126 yards and a touchdown in addition to making four receptions for 75 yards and another score in the Trojans’ 20-0 shutout victory over De Pere. Komis also averaged 34.6 yards on five punts.
Ethan Kroll, Sevastopol: The junior rushed for 256 yards and three touchdowns in a 28-6 victory at Wausaukee. Kroll’s scores came on two runs of 55 yards and a 62-yard scoring scamper.
Offensive line of the week: Wrightstown
The Tigers totaled 486 rushing yards in a 41-7 victory against Denmark behind the blocking of tight ends Evan Guns and Logan Cieslewicz, tackles Luke Haese and Jonathan O’Connell, guards Sam Stenzel and Dan Burns and center Sam Karner.
