Standings in the Stands: Week 8
It all comes down to this.
Friday night marks the finale of the “Standings in the Stands.” It’s your last chance to stand up, get loud and showcase your school spirit for a chance to be our coveted grand champion.
The competition should be fierce between what we’re deeming the “Fanatic Four” schools that are all within five points of each other.
We look forward to seeing what they’ll bring to the table in order to win a title.
But before we do so, let’s review the tape from last week, which was headlined by the Mannequin Challenge.
If you want to see your school make the cut next week, send AP photos and/or videos on Twitter (@AndrewPekarek), Snapchat (AndrewPekarek) or Facebook (PrepsAgenda) of your crew showing its fandom at a game this week.
As always, student sections, bands, teachers, principals and parents are encouraged to apply.
The “Standings in the Stands” grand champion is a participation trophy, so your participation is needed to win.
5. Pulaski
We love the Red Sea, but we’re pretty sure it hasn’t been reading the entire article each week and has missed out on some major bonus points at the bottom. Emily Higgins always does an excellent job of framing up photos, though.
4. Wrightstown
The Wright Stuff Squad picked up bonus points for having the best ‘AP’ chant and best ‘AP’ sign, although the sign very likely could have been for junior running back Andrew Pelishek. Derick Bader is running this show and is channeling legendary manager Jimmy “Mouth of the South” Hart with the megaphone each week.
3. G.B. Southwest
Sources tell us The Horse and Buggy Brigade from Troy by way of Southwest is just too long for a nickname. It’s requesting to be referred to as S³ (Southwest Student Section) going forward. S³ narrowly won the Mannequin Challenge thanks to the cheerleaders holding poses for that long. We also got a nice chuckle from John Gahnz’s rain gear last week. Dude was sporting a swim cap we think. He’s also friends with the refs. See you Friday night.
2. Ashwaubenon
The Pineapple Peeps from Ashwaubenon received bonus points for pointing out how they’re so dominant nobody from the other team’s student section they were playing even showed up for the game. Tark Meske has been doing a great job all season, but this week belonged to Jaguar Jen. Her voice gives this bunch life and is a huge advantage for them.

1. Luxemburg-Casco
We’ll be honest, the ‘Burg was probably outperformed by other sections last week. But it brought the most heart. That counts big time in our book.
We had the pleasure of meeting Sparty. Apparently, he also goes by Austin Rank. He definitely gets a high ranking from us.
We couldn’t help but notice that he came to the game at Wrightstown midway through the first half. It’s hard not to miss those things when you’re dressed up like a Spartan a few weeks before Halloween.
‘Burg captain Danae Srnka told us Rank was running late because he runs cross-country. L-C was hosting its big home invite of the year last week and he stayed after to help clean up, but still drove out to Wrightstown to support his classmates.
He also is taking some pretty tough AP Classes (Not mine, the other ones) and got a couple of A’s on some big tests last Friday.
In talking with Rank, we learned he’s a pro wrestling fan and asked if we were conducting the “Rumble Challenge” again this year. Yes, we are. It’s going to be the best yet when January rolls around.
We love Rank’s school spirt. He’s been taking pictures with other mascots this year and we decided to follow him when he went over to the opposite side of the stands to try to meet the Tiger from Wrightstown.
Unfortunately, the Tiger fell into peer pressure and no photo was taken. Our executive board reviewed the tape and have decided to deduct 5 points from the Wright Stuff Squad for the lack of spirit in that instance and award it to the ‘Burg, which we took a photo with because we kind of are like a mascot.
Great job Austin. Keep up the good work and we wish you well.
Bonus points for Week 9
