Standings in the Stands: Week 7

It was an interesting week to say the least.

Not only did the Red Sea come up completely dry, but the ‘Burg also had a rough outing in fielding a bit of a short-handed squad in the stands for much of its homecoming game.

Just like a Tiger would, Wrightstown pounced on the opportunity.

The Wright Stuff Squad made a dramatic climb in the season standings by putting together a 19-point performance in Week 7, earning bonus points in two categories, including best Polka dance thanks to the efforts of Alex and Tami.

Meanwhile, Ashwaubenon and Green Bay Southwest climbed to the top spot in the season standings.

There are two weeks remaining for “Standings in the Stands” before we determine our grand champion.

Business should pick up this week as we’ll be visiting Wrightstown for a colossal matchup on the field and in the stands.

If you want to see your school make the cut next week, send AP photos and/or videos on Twitter (@AndrewPekarek),  Snapchat (AndrewPekarek) or Facebook (PrepsAgenda) of your crew showing its fandom at a game this week.

As always, student sections, bands, teachers, principals and parents are encouraged to apply.

The “Standings in the Stands” grand champion is a participation trophy, so your participation is needed to win.

5. Luxemburg-Casco

No matter how talented they are, one individual can’t carry a team. The ‘Burg experienced that last week with standout Danae Srnka focusing her efforts on her performance with the dance team. The ‘Burg lost its grip on the top spot in the season standings, but should be well rested for a huge game on Friday at Wrightstown.

4. Bay Port

Congratulations Pirates, you’re on the board. The Voice of Bay Port and Principal Frieder to score the first points of the season. Will the kids in the student section follow in attempting to rally for a comeback.

3. Ashwaubenon

We were rather confused in looking at the Snaps we were receiving from Tark Meske last week in Pulaski. The Pineapple Peeps from Ashwaubenon were decked out in flannels and cowboy hats. But they also committed gimmick infringement in doing the parting of the Red Sea celebration followed by an ‘AP’ chant. That got you bonus points for best ‘AP’ chant of the week. While the Red Sea was absent last week on our Snapchat feed, Pulaski standout Emily Higgins did make an appearance with Jaguar Jen.

2. Wrightstown

As documented above, the Wright Stuff Squad had a near flawless week in picking up some major bonus points to climb up the season standings. However, they made one error in not sending a photo with an ‘AP’ or ‘Pekarek’s Pals’ sign. That cost them the No. 1 spot this week.

1. Green Bay Southwest

Although technically it wasn’t displayed in the stands, the Horse and Buggy Brigade from Troy by way of Southwest earned the No. 1 spot this week for giving us some love on its digital sign in front of the school. Their efforts also move them into a tie with Ashwaubenon atop the seasons standings with two weeks remaining. But we’re still not sure what type of dancing that was that John Gahnz sent us. It certainly wasn’t the Polka.

Bonus points for Week 8

-One school will receive 5 bonus points in Week 8 for sending a video clip with a member(s) of its crowd saying “AP we should be No. 1 because …. (Fill in the blank with a creative and clean answer).”

-One school will earn 5 bonus points in Week 8 for sending a video clip of the best mannequin challenge.

-One school will earn 10 bonus points in Week 8 for sending a photo of best and biggest ‘AP’ and ‘Pekarek’s Pals’ posters in the crowd.

-One school will receive 10 bonus points in Week 8 for sending a video clip of student section doing an ‘AP’ chant, similar to the D-fense chant.
