Standings in the Stands: Week 2
We’ve never seen a start like this before.
Granted, we’ve only been doing this for two years. However, what the Pineapple People from Ashwaubenon have done thus far is impressive.
*Spoiler Alert* Not only did Ashwaubenon earn the No. 1 ranking for the second straight week, but it distanced itself from the pack by earning all of the bonus points for Week 2:
- One school will receive 5 bonus points for best incorporation of a teacher or staff member in a photo or video. CHECK
- Receive 5 bonus points for hanging an “AP” sign at the front of your student section. CHECK
- Receive 10 bonus points if you get your “AP” sign on WFRV Channel 5’s High School Sports Xtra show on Saturday night. CHECK
Ashwaubenon pulled off the hat trick by having its principal, assistant principal and athletic director take a bite of the gameday pineapple. A tradition for those cheering on the Jaguars.
Ashwaubenon was sporting an “AP” sign and it parlayed it to an appearance on WFRV Channel 5’s High School Sports Xtra.
Nicely done.
We learned the Pineapple People are being led by the duo of Addison Stromberg and Chayse Earney this year. That’s fitting because everyone else is chasing Ashwaubenon to earn the top spot in “Standings in the Stands” right now.
But don’t fret. There is still plenty of time to catch up.
Make sure you read the bonus points listed below. If we haven’t heard from your school before, we’re offering some special bonus points to help you get in the game this week.
If you want to see your school make the cut next week, send AP photos and/or videos on Twitter (@AndrewPekarek), Snapchat (AndrewPekarek) or Facebook (PrepsAgenda) of your crew showing its fandom at a game this week.
As always, student sections, bands, teachers, principals and parents are encouraged to apply.
5. G.B. Southwest
Somewhere John Gahnz has got to be shaking his head. After having a legendary leader last year, S³ is struggling early in the season to replace Gahnz. We received one snap last week from a member of S³ stating someone had skipped work to go to the Trojans’ road game against De Pere. It was beach night it looked like, so the young fellow was wearing a Hawaiian lei and some baggy shorts. We appreciate the effort, but please don’t skip out on work. We think it’s important for high school students to learn the value of a dollar by having part-time jobs, so please don’t jeopardize that.
4. Denmark
We’ve been rather impressed with this school during visits for games in consecutive weeks. Its gameday atmosphere features all of the school spirit you would like to see at a high school contest. There was the band, dance team and youth football game at halftime. Although we can’t confirm, we believe we’ve also encouraged it to start a Twitter account (@VikingsDenmark).
3. Pulaski
The Red Sea went for a ride on a roller coaster led by officer Winkler last week, earning it a split for best staff and faculty involvement. We appreciate the Zac-Pack’s efforts of sending us snaps of the crew, but this group needs to get its markers out because it is missing out on valuable bonus points. We believe in the Red Sea, though, and know the best is still to come.

2. Luxemburg-Casco
The ‘Burg remains an impressive bunch. Its leader, Amanda Miceli, could not be in attendance last week because she was taking care of some business on the volleyball court. However, Miceli Mania was still running wild during L-C’s victory over Fox Valley Lutheran. The ‘Burg earned five bonus points for its “AP” sign and we’ve dished out another five bonus points for its faculty and staff involvement. The banana has also returned, meaning the battle for the best fruit is apparently continuing this year between schools.
ANOTHER SPARTAN WIN!!! final score: 34-6 vs. FVL! Another great win for the boys, puts us at 2-0 for the season! Make sure to come out and support our boys next Friday @ Little Chute for denim theme💛🏈❤️ @AndrewPekarek pic.twitter.com/6Gt48lZxFC

1. Ashwaubenon
As we’ve already noted above, the Pineapple People had a dominating week by collecting all of the bonus points. However, they earned the top spot this week thanks to Brady Wittig, who continued what has become a family tradition by showing up to cheer at the Ashwaubenon football game after getting his wisdom teeth removed earlier in the day. His brother, Ben, a legend at Ashwaubenon that did the same thing in 2016, is very proud of him, according to sources.
