L-C’s Geib goes out with medal
Griffin Geib tried his best to hold a smile on the WIAA state podium in La Crosse.
The Luxemburg-Casco senior was thrilled to make it there with a third-place finish for the boys 200-meter dash in Division 2.
Although he was excited to make it to the medal stand, Geib was still struggling to catch his breath and was coughing as he dealt his asthma.
“I don’t really feel it when I’m running,” Geib said. “But after I get the worst cough.”

Geib kept getting better and better at the end of the season to advance to state for the first time in the 100, 200 and as the anchor leg for L-C’s 800 relay.
After just missing out on the state podium by finishing seventh in the 100 and being disqualified in the 800 relay finals, Geib ended up showing that his third race was the charm.
The L-C senior’s time of 22.23 seconds in the 200 finals reset the school record he broke at sectionals.
“It’s amazing,” Geib said. “I worked this whole season just to get here. I couldn’t be more grateful for my team and my coaches that supported me the whole way.”
