Door County athletes shine at state
Door County was well represented on the podium at the WIAA state track and field meet this year.
Door County schools combined to produce six medalists.
Gibraltar senior Evan Henry capped his career with a pair of trips to the state podium.
Henry placed fourth in the boys 3,200-meter run and sixth in the 1,600 run in Division 3.
Henry, the class valedictorian at Gibraltar this year, ran personal-best times in each race. His time of 9 minutes, 54.40 seconds in the 3,200 broke a school record.
His state medals in track come after Henry placed fifth at state cross-country in the fall.

Meanwhile, Sevastopol produced state medalists in three events.
The quartet of sophomore Zoe Kuehn, junior Mya Ploor, junior Lizzy Fiscus and sophomore Olivia Stenzel finished as the D3 state runner-up in the girls 3,200 relay.
Junior Kiegen Sargent placed sixth in the D3 boys long jump for the Pioneers with a personal-best mark of 21 feet, 5 inches.
Sophomore Laci Lautenbach placed fourth in the D3 girls high jump for the Pioneers with a clearance of 5-2.
In the opposite high jump pit, Sturgeon Bay junior 12, Hailey Riechers also cleared 5-2 to place fifth in Division 2.
